| I went with Jeremiah to get his haircut at the mall today. When we walked past Hot Topic we got into a debate over clothing and piercings. I happen to love Hot Topic. He hates it. I don't see any problem with Christians looking goth. He disagrees. I also didn't understand what the big deal is about people gauging their ears. I don't see how it is ok for a girl to have a small ear piercing but it is bad for a girl or a guy to have their ears gauged out. We debated back and forth for a while and never really got to the bottom of it. We even looked in the catholic catechism to see what it had to say about clothing and piercings. So I wanted to post here and see if anyone could help us out on this one. What are catholics supposed to believe about piercings and clothing? In case anyone was wondering I do not dress goth. | | |
| This morning was amazing. I went to Mass and I was weeping. I don't know why. I think that it was the Holy Spirit rejuvenating me. I have been slacking a bit recently. My faithfulness to Lent has been halfhearted. It has been more like 1/18 hearted. I have not been giving my all at all! I haven't this entire 2 1/2 weeks. I have not given hardly any effort. I give some but then I give in. So this morning was a real eye opener. And the book I have been reading really opened my eyes to what Christians had to go through in the early Church, especially the martyrs. I've been reading "Victories of the Martyrs" by St. Alphonsus De Liguori. This book has really put me in check. They were persecuted, put on racks, stretched until their arms and legs were dislocated. They were put on grills, fed to lions, crucified, beheaded, and burned at the stake. They would do all these things just because deep down they were convicted by the Holy Spirit. Not only that, but the martyrs were happy through the entire thing! We should rejoice when we suffer too. I definitely do not understand what they went through. I hardly suffer at all. I am fat! Basically, I have no discipline. I do whatever I want, whenever I want, just because. The martyrs were not like that. They would strive for pain! They rejoiced in suffering! I want to be more like them. Please keep me in your prayers. F@R13Y | | |
| I knew Lent was going to be hard, but not this hard. I don't mean to mess up, but I give in to temptation. I am tired of giving in because, you know, we are supposed to suffer as Christ suffered. We are supposed to try to relate to how he loved us. I fail all the time. I get so angry at myself. I mean, he died for me and I am still taking advantage of it. I keep giving in. All the martyrs were hardcore. I want to be like them and not give in. It is so hard when it is right there though. Keep me in your prayers. God bless. Farley | | |
| I am guilty of using tobacco products.....This is why Lent is so powerful. It is so powerful because you fast and reflect on the crucifixion of Jesus Christ and why he did what he did. My life is a perfect example because he died for all of the sins of the world. Even though I gave into tobacco products he forgives me when I ask him. Daily I must do this because I am not perfect, nobody is. Again, if you have any questions about the Catholic Faith, please, message me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Keep me in your prayers. God Bless.... | | |
| These last two days have been the hardest days of my life. For Lent I'm giving up (Probably for good) tobacco products, not only that, but I can't eat meat on Fridays and the first two meals of the day meals have to be small and the third meal is a little bit bigger but still small. If you have any questions about Lent or the Catholic faith feel free to write me a message and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Keep me in your prayers and God bless.... | | |
